PRICING & ORDERING
Guitars are available directly from me or through one of the dealers who
represent me. If you are interested in a guitar, please contact me to find out
what instruments are currently available or to discuss a custom order. It's
valuable for me to speak with you so that I understand your needs, likes and
dislikes. I value a personal connection with anyone who will be playing one
of my guitars.
PRICES EFFECTIVE JUNE 2010
My current base price for
traditional model instruments is $11,000,
which includes a nonrefundable order deposit of $500. This price also includes
an allowance of $700 for Rodgers tuning machines of my
custom design, now standard. Click
here to see the design (illustration 24, top of page). It is based on a
reproduction set I had made by Rodgers to replace machines on a client's 1878
Torres guitar. Photos of the original and reproduction sets
here (scroll down to illustration 29, bottom of page). Because Rodgers are standard, price may vary
according to exchange rate and model chosen.
All three top woods (American or European spruce, Western red cedar) are
now available at the base price.
A detailed list of specifications is
here.
Double tops, alternative back/side woods, and custom features will add to
the price. For example, add $1,000 and up for Madagascar rosewood or maple, $2,500
- $5,000
for Brazilian rosewood or African blackwood.
Increases are necessary from time to time, so I cannot guarantee this price
for orders for delivery more than a year out. For those orders, the price may
have to be adjusted upward; final price will be confirmed
before I begin construction.
Guitars are shipped subject to a five-day approval period, if the instrument has
standard features. See approval policy
here.
WHERE TO SEE & HEAR GUITARS
VISIT THE SHOP
If you're in the area, a shop visit may be arranged to see an instrument, if I have a completed one
on hand. Most of my instruments are spoken for, but I do sometimes have one for
sale or waiting
to be delivered that can be played.
DEALERS
My guitars are sold by
Guitars
International, Cleveland, Ohio. The following dealers have preowned
Monrads in stock from time to time:
SHOWS AND FESTIVALS

You can see and hear
a 1999 Monrad cedar guitar played on film by

watch for my crown rosette and the surf crashing in the background. The
DVD is available from Harris/Chayes Productions for $ 29.95 plus shipping and
